Here We Go

So I leave for Florida tomorrow night. Fly out at 6:45pm and arrive in Tampa at 10:45 pm. I don't really feel the butterflys that I felt last year, even though this year it seems like it's kind of a bigger deal making open nationals. I'm pretty sure it'll hit me Thursday morning, arriving at the fields I've seen on DVDs a hundred times, seeing the "big names" I've watched on tv and read about even more times.

Who knows how we'll do, I know alot of predictions have us not winning a game, and sure that's expected from people when you're seeded 16th. If we don't win a game it's really not that big of deal to me, as long as we work hard in every game we play and have no regrets. I think we'll win though and I hope we surprise some people in the process.

Looking forward to Florida. Not looking forward to the flying.

I'll try to get on clip of the day, whether it's because I did something sweet, or because Bart Watson put his sack on the top of my head....or because I was screaming Beckified behind the camera when something cool happened. You need volume for this, listen for Beckified.

Regional Thoughts

Regionals has come and gone....and it went extremely well. For probably the 12 of you who read my blog, you already know that VBB has made nationals and how we made it. Here are just a few thoughts and comment I have about the weekend.

Dank
  • Qualifying for nationals after going 1-2 to start the tournament, then winning 6 straight games.
  • The team really bonding together on Sunday and really getting the sidelines into every single game
  • Everyone making the best out of the points they played and really giving it their all
  • The Rackages dominating the region and them supporting us all the way
  • It was really nice to see alot of guys on the team getting emotional after we qualified, but it really meant alot to me to see Rob, Louis, and Jimmy get teary eyed. I've known these guys for some years now and I know how bad they've wanted this and it meant alot to see them so happy. I'm proud of you guys.
  • Throwing the frisbee to Simon (Karl Doege's dog) many many times
  • Spending the weekend with a dank group of peeps, and getting wasted Sunday night at the Tin Dog. "WE'RE GOING TO CLUB OPEN NAAAAATIONALS."

Un-Dank

  • Dropping a grip load of cash to go to Tulsa
  • Having my flight from Duluth to Mpls. cancelled and having to take a school bus to Mpls. barely making my flight to Tulsa.
  • The weather, off and on pouring rain, then sun, then warm rain, then cold rain.
  • The whole blown out of proportion ordeal with Madcow, and seeing half of their team belittle and scream obscenities at my friend and my teammate.
  • Madcow posting on RSD that our team was classless and that we won because of cheap calls and biased observers. (dicks)
  • Willis from Madcow having a serious knee injury.
  • Having my flight from Tulsa to Mpls. cancelled due to weather that was perfect.
  • Passing out wasted at 3:30 am Monday morning, waking up at 5am and taking a cab to the airport. Waiting in line to get my boarding pass for 15 minutes, get to the front, then run to the bathroom to throw up because I'm still drunk as fuck.
  • My flights from Mpls. to Duluth being cancelled two more times, and Northwest losing my bag.

But all in all, it was an adventure and I had a blast. Lots of memories from this weekend, and Im sure Florida will only bring better and brighter things. See all you VBB and Rackages in Sarasota.

Central Region Seedings for Club Open

So the seedings for regionals this weekend are up...

http://www.upa.org/scores/tourn.cgi?div=127&id=3845

To tell you the truth I don't really understand them. Of course Zero deserves to be number 1, but my confusion comes with BAT, Machine and Madcow.

Observations
  • BAT has an RRI of 2518, with a 1-2 record against Madcow, and a 1-0 record against Machine
  • Machine has an RRI of 2545, with an 0-0 record against Madcow, and an 0-1 record against BAT
  • Madcow has an RRI of 2520, with a 2-1 record against BAT, and an 0-0 record against Machine.

I guess what I'm wondering is, why isn't Madcow seeded second, BAT seeded third, and Machine seeded fourth. Is RRI that important?? Madcow has beaten BAT twice and has a higher RRI than them. Machine has lost to BAT but has a higher RRI than them. So, are they trying to say that BAT deserves the two seed because they have proven that they can beat both Machine and Madcow? If that is so, why isn't Madcow seeded third, they've proven they can beat BAT and Machine hasn't proven that they can't beat either.

If I were to switch it around at all I would make BAT the two seed, Madcow the three seed and Machine the four seed. Thoughts?
