This was supposed to be the summer of George!!!!

So far summer has been pretty nice. I've graduated and decided not to get a job yet, so I'm just coasting off of my grad money. I get to sleep in, play Nintendo Wii, workout, throw the disc and eat pizza whenever I want...i love it. However, I do find myself getting bored at times, which is why I'm surprised I haven't posted more often on here. Zero tryouts have come and gone and I got cut, which I'm not too heart broken about. I think I would be more dissapointed in myself if I were completely healthy, in shape, and playing in my normal position with my dominant hand. Not that I'm going to use all that as an excuse as to why I didn't make it, but let's be honest here that didn't help anything. I'm happy for all the guys who did make it and I hope Zero rocks it at nationals this year.

As for frisbee this summer goes, I'm still up in the air. I went to some Moe tryouts but missed a bunch because of Zero tryouts and missed their tryout tournament because of my graduation party (thanks mother), so they decided to cut me this year. That's fair. So, I've been going to Liquid Assets the past week and a half and playing with them, they said I have a roster spot on their team if I want it, but I'm going to be trying out with the Van Buren Boys. I will be going to their practices on July 14-15, and then playing with them at MUDI and MoTown, then they will decide whether to keep my beautiful ass or not.

I really would like to play with VBB this year, I'm friends with a bunch of guys on the team and they will be very competetive in the series, and ideally that's what I'm looking for. Also, a team that can make me better and teach me, and I believe that they could do that for me. I'd really like to learn some things from Ross Cram....man he's got big calves. Also, Louis has been telling me about Matt Ellsworth and how funny he is and I would like to meet this Ellsworth and discuss the hilarities of life with him. I just read Louis blog, and I realized it has been so long since I've played in a tournament. The last one I played in was the indoor one where I broke my wrist (fuck you St Johns fuck you, Im coming for the rat bastard that took me out) and that was only like a 4 team tournament. Soooo, the last time I played in an outdoor tournament was Nationals last year.....That is far too long.

Random Things

* My Mom got an 8 week old puppy, half Beijon half poodle, her name is Sophie. Me and my brothers aren't too fond of the name it's too girly, so I think I'm going to call it blade.

* Scratch that Im going to call it Brutus

* Wrist is getting better I can throw again, but it is awfully weak and gets pretty sore after playing. But it is definately nice to handle again I don't know how the fuck cutters do what they do.

* If anyone wants to see my Bungee Jumping DVD from when I jumped 440 feet in New Zealand, come over and check it out!

* I'm really stretching for more things to say so I will stop here....

Over and out.

Frisbee Updates and Random Thoughts

Nationals

Well it has been awhile since I last posted, and that is primarily because I had regionals to go, lots of papers, finals and projects to do and graduation. But Im all done with that nonsense. I actually drove out to College Nationals to do some watching/heckling with Truesdale and his friend Caleb who plays for St. Olaf. The drive sure was shitty, being like 12 hours long and especially since Trues didn't drive stick. Caleb did, but I was pretty awake driving there so I drove the whole way. It was pretty sweet watching all those teams that you read about or see on Ultivillage, but I really didn't have that "woah these guys are all so much better than me" feeling. Maybe I'm growing up, maybe I've gotten better, who knows. There was a bunch of us there, some zero players and friends, Minnesota boys and some CUT alums. We all put aside our competetiveness and banned together to form one group of Central Regioners, rather than CUT, MN, Olaf, St Thomas, Iowa St. etc.

We watched the CUT games mostly rooting them on, we obviously wanted them to get that third bid for the region. The best was watching the Florida vs CUT game in quarters, where we all decided to count stoppages of play out loud. After 2 points the count was at 12! I placed the over/under at 70, and the final outcome was I think 63. The highlight of this game was Michael Arenson's comment to some guy on Florida name Crandall, they had their names on their jerseys. So, Nolan on CUT caught a disc over the laying out Crandall in the endzone and he layed on the ground, and Nolan spiked the disc right in front of him and says "BOO YEAH!!" Obviously us spectators loved it and yelled BOO YEAH back. Then Michael yells.....

"Yeah in your face Cardinal!!!" apparently his jersey was overlapping and mike thought it said Cardinal, which was pretty fucking hilarious. The guy promptly turns around flicks Michael off haha, he was so embarassed...silly freshman. So, the rest of the game there were plenty Boo Yeah heckles and Cardinal yelling.

Zero

So, Im still going with zero tryouts, and it is almost over. I haven't been doing a bad job considering I am cutting and playing with my left hand. I can't really make continue passes when I get unders, rather, I prefer not to try because I don't want to turn it over, but the cutting isn't all that bad. I have made a few nice layouts on O, and one layout D in a drill, but I haven't really had that big defensive play that makes me stand out in a scrimmage. My defense hasn't been bad though, I have been doing a pretty good job at shutting down the person I'm guarding, giving up unders here and there but I haven't really ever been burned deep or anything either, so that's a plus. SO, they've been going well and I can only keep trying my best, I believe the final cuts are on the 17th so here's hoping.

Animal Wars

Hippo Vs. Rhino

Personally I think that a hippo would win this match up, now of course the environment in which they are fighting is key. So let's say that they are fighting on land but some 40 yards away there is a small lake.
I believe that the rhino will get the first shot in, making a long fast charge at the hippo and striking him with his horn. This will hurt the hippo, maybe break a few ribs but won't put him out. After this first charge the hippo will take over, with a mouth that can open as wide as their body the hippo will use their massive tusks to puncture the rhinos side and keep slashing him with them. The rhino will try a few times to get some distance and make another charge but the hippo will be right on his ass using those killer tusks.

Then all of a sudden the rhino realizes he's made a grave mistake...He's put himself right near the water and the hippo uses this to his advantage and pushes the rhino into the lake. The hippo continues to just slash and bash away at the rhino eventually getting him submerged under the water. This is when the fight will end and the hippo emerges victorious, only sustaining a few cuts, some broken ribs and a cracked tusk.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this battle, I will be posting more animal wars later on.
