DULUTH UNDER BECKIFIED WARNING

This just in....

"The people of Duluth are now under a severe Beckified Warning. It looks like Becky has rolled through the Duluth/ Superior area, creating havoc and chaos. Houses have been shattered and left in mere splinters at the feet of this massive storm. Children can be heard crying throughout the streets as empty captain morgan bottles are being broken everywhere. Thousands and thousands of people are missing, if you see any people roaming the streets looking lost please contact 1-800-IGOT-BECKIFIED and hopefully a family will recognize them and take them home.

Heavyweights

So I have realized that Im not very good at posting about tournaments, the main reason being that I don't really pay attention to everything that well. Usually I just get too into the game and don't really remember the fine details of everything. So, here's a brief summary.

Saturday.....

Goat vs. VBB
Goat was good. Every player was like 6'3 and taller, or so it seemed. And they could all throw and were athletic. I sat out this game because I didn't warm up enough before we started doing a huck drill and i tweaked my hamstring. We never were really in control of this game at all, they went up a few breaks and that's kind of how it finished. I think the final was 13-9 or something like that. I do believe that if we played our best and played two good halfs of ultimate we maybe beat them.

Last Call vs. VBB
This was an important game, we needed to win this one in order to make top two in our pool and move up to the power pools. This game was pretty back and forth the whole time, we were just exchanging O points most of the way. Then I think it was 9-9 and we pulled upwind. I got down on the pull as fast as I could (which i like to do) and marked my guy, which was the force side handler. He positioned himself a little too far downfield, at least I think so. And the handler in the center had the disc, I was eyeing this guy the whole time and you could sort of tell he had tunnel vision. So he threw a pass downfield and I had a pretty nice layout poach D. Rob picked up it quickly and threw a backhand to Nickel Slots for the upwind break. It felt pretty good to do something worth while. Then we got two more breaks after that and won the game.

Sir Duke vs. VBB
Not really an exciting game. They had like two guys who did all the work, the blonde long haired kid and the sweat pants guy. I will give the blonde haired kid credit, he worked his ass off the whole time and played pretty much every point. But, this team wasn't very good, noone could really break except for the two and they also had a small number of players. This game was never really a challenge, and we win easily 13-8 or so.

Power Pools.....

Big Ass Truck vs.VBB
I dont really remember this game much probably because the day was getting long and hot. I do remember that their offense was pretty efficient at times and didn't have much trouble scoring on us. Sorry, thats all I got. Bat wins by 3 or 4.

Madcow vs. VBB
These guys were dicks. First and foremost.....dicks. And I know people will say "oh you cant let a few bad apples make you hate the whole team" but yes I can, and I do. Kent, however, is a really nice guy. This game was also back and forth alot, offense scores easily, theres does too. But we broke them a few times I think and took a pretty comfortable lead late in the second half. They make alot of bullshit calls and then continue to argue and talk about them for like 15 minutes. This one guy called travel on Joe Dimes like 10 times, when all he was doing was catching the under and pivoting out. Maybe if the guy could actually defend Joe he wouldn't have to make up travel calls so much....dick..... But we were up 9-7 and I think we were pulling, they score their O point and then break us so its tied up at 9's. Then....they break us again and they're up 10-9, our O line works hard and puts it in to tie it at 10's. In the middle of that point the horn blew and the game was capped at 11, so Universe. We put up a good fight in the last point but just couldn't pull it out, but it really isn't fair when you've got 7 guys on the field calling bullshit the whole time. Que sera sera.

Sunday....

Sub Zero vs. VBB
We were all waiting for this game again, I think there was a little bit of nervous excitedness running through everyone. We started out on D and they score fairly easily, using their tall athletic receivers who all look exactly alike on the line....Do you guys do that on purpose? Matching hats, wristbands etc. Our O line looks good and we trade O points up to 3-3. We pull upwind and get a D, which I then decide to turnover on an IO backhand break to Karl. Thankfully, we get it back and march it up wind to score for the first break of the game 4-3. But then they took a timeout and had a little run. They scored their O point and broke us twice in a row. From that point on we traded mostly and they ended up winning 11-9. I was happy with how we played this game, but it woulda been nice to win..... Feel better Jerome.

Frontline (madison) vs. VBB
I dont want to really talk about this game. We start out strong taking half 8-5 and we receive downwind to start the second half. I think our small rotation of O line players are feeling a bit fatigued and we get broken a few times in a row. We end up losing this game by 3 or 4..... Tough loss, I think we got tired out and our hearts weren't fully into it.

Overall it was a good weekend, hot, the fields are still really hard on the feet but it was worth it. The 9 1/2 hour drive back to Duluth sucked balls, especially since i drove the whole way, and got pulled over. Tail light out my ass, but I got let off after going 95 in a 65....eek.

Time to rest and eat pizza.

Oh the beckified nation is back in business. I have to admit it i was worried that the beck-nation was on vacation.

I liked what you had to say minus some of the scores. The madcow game we lost by 2 and all kinds of other little pieces. I do agree that all the zero guys look the same on the line...it is weird. I mean if you are not wearing a hat on zero then it is easy to see who you are, otherwise you all look the same. I think at one point i was telling people apart by cleats or socks.

I think the only thing i would disagree with you on is Goat. yeah we lost but i was not really impressed with their team. I did think they were athletic but i was not overly impressed with them. I think out not being able to put the disc in the endzone was the biggest problem.

Your D against...Last Call...i forget but i think it was that one was pretty freaking sweet. Especially since it was your first point of the weekend i think.

And you got pulled over.....That sucks man but at least it was just a fix it ticket and you are not in jail for beckifying all over the cops speedzone.

Well i have to make some use of my super busy day and play some ping pong in the break room.

Great playing this weekend and i loved the hustle down on the pull. More people need to run down and get there. You know it is my favortie part of the game. Wierd but it is.

I got a nice $100.00 ticket on the way back to Des Moines. It sucked.

Your D was the turning point in the Last Call game for sure.

Thanks for my stuff back.
